Cast and Filming Schedule

Filming Schedule

I will go out and film Every Wednesday from 1:10 until 3:30

My Song Choice

The song i have chosen to use for my music video is 'You Raise Me Up' by Westlife. I have chosen this song because my cast is an all boy band, just like westlife and i think my cast can relate well to the band. I also think there is a lot of emotion and meaning behind this song that i can try and show through my music video.

Which song to use for my Music Video

Here are a selection of songs that i am thinking of using for my music video.

You Raise Me Up - Westlife

Love Sick - Loveable Rogues

Rule The World - Take That

What Makes You Beautiful - One Direction

Conventions of a Music video

This is a music video of the song 'patience' by Take That. i have used this song to look at the conventions of a music video because Take That are an all boy band and the actors i will be using in my video will also be a boy band. This music video uses a wide range of camera shots to fill the song, it mainly uses close ups and extreme close ups on the men when they're singing or playing an instrument. The video also contains an establishing shot at the start of the video to show the location the band is in. Tracking shots of the band walking are also used quite frequently in the video. In this video each of the men are wearing very similar clothes/outfits, this could be to show that they are part of a band or that they are all together, in my music video i will try to make sure all my band members are wearing very similar clothes to show that theyre together as a band.

This is a music video of the song 'what makes you beautiful' by One Direction. Again i have used an all boy band as the members of my band will be all boys. Like the other video there are a lot of close up shots of the boys when they are singing, and the shot also changes to the band member that is singing. There are again many tracking shots of the band as they walk along the beach singing and there are also a few slow motion shots. Again like the other video the band are all wearing quite similar clothes.

This song is 'You raise me up' by another boyband, Westlife. This song is quite an emotional one, looking at flashbacks and emotional moments in someones life so the whole song is in black and white which i think really captures the emotion of the song well. again because it is quite an emotional song there are alot of very slow tracking shots and slow motion shots, but as the song goes through and becomes more upbeat the shots become faster. Like the other videos there are always close ups of the band member singing or when an instrument is being played. Again like the other videos, the band members are all wearing very similar clothes to represent their band and the song.

Idea Change

After doing some research into short films i have decided to completely change my plans and create a music video instead of a short film. I have done this because after doing some research into music videos i think i have bigger and better ideas and a music video would work better for me. I now need to start my planning process again looking into the conventions of a typical music video and try and decide on what song i would like to use for the video.

image deconstructions

This is a black and white image of a bearded man smoking a cigar. i like this image because i like how the photographer has managed to make the man look important, i like the way he is looking over at something, like he is in charge and making sure things are being done correctly. The big cigar also makes the man look important, like he is in the mafia or something like that.

This is a picture of some children playing up on a very high wall. i like this picture because i like how the photographer captures the fearlessness of the children, how they are really high up on a tiny old wall but they are still having fun. Its looks like they are quite poor children trying to make their own entertainment by living dangerously.

This is a picture of two horses running along the shore of a beach. i like this picture because the photographer really captures how fast the horses are moving by making them sort of blury. i like how the horses have left a trail in the sea and i also like the reflection of them on the water infront of them.

Conventions of a horror film

Conventions of a genre - Horror
Characters:

  • The bad guy - usually a mad serial killer, monster or alien.
  • The main character - usually survives and ends up being the hero
  • His dumb, know it all friend that thinks he knows best but then just ends up getting killed
  • The attractive young woman with her breasts out all of the time
  • Police man - can either be a good or bad character, but will always die.
Props and Locations:
  • If the movie is a teen, slasher horror movie then it is usually set in one of their houses. for example they could be having a house party and the bad guy comes and kills them
  • Another frequent locations would be run down areas in the middle of nowhere, this is because the people would be stranded there with noone to help them, so it would be a good chance for the killer to strike. eg. '40 days of night' 'the thing'
  • The killer would usually be either, disguised in black clothing so noone can see his face, dressed up as a normal person or policeman so noone would expect it to be them or wouldnt dress up at all so again noone would expect it to be them.

Short Film

For my A2 media coursework i have decided to create a short film rather than a music video. I have decided my short film will come under the genre horror/thriller. To do this i will need to deconstruct a few short films that come under the same genre as mine so i can understand the conventions of a horror film, this will help make my short film specific to its genre.
